Gun Laws and Regulations

Gun Laws and Regulations
Over the last several weeks all that we have heard is that we need to regulate guns to prevent people from using them to kill.  At first glance this seems like a great thing.  Let’s make the world a safer place to live by making it harder to get guns or limiting the amount of bullets that we can put in the gun.  Making the world a safer place is a good goal and something that everybody should work for day in and day out.  However, putting new gun laws on the books is not the way to accomplish this goal.  We have 2 cities in the United States, Chicago and New York City, which have tough gun laws limiting which limit the clip size or amount of bullets that the gun owner can have in them.  Is it working in those cities?  The answer would be no.  In both cases the majority of gun violence is from drug dealers and gangs who are not going over the local gun show where you can purchase firearms from legal dealers to purchase a fire arm.  These people are purchasing firearms illegally and do not really care who they hurt with the gun.  Take the young woman who had marched in the Inauguration last month.  She was minding her own business when sum thug from a gang shot her because he thought that she was part of another gang.  I would be willing to bet that the gang member that shot her did not buy the gun legally.  Also, the gun violence in New York was decreased by police going after the drug dealers and gangs and removing them along with their illegal guns.
More gun laws are not the answer but it is just a great smoke screen the current administration is willing to put in front of the people of the United States so that they do not need to answer the really tough questions that face this country.  We are slipping further and further in debt and do not want to face the music about reforming the Welfare system and the unemployment that is taking the country apart.
