Colorado's Marijuana Law

Colorado's marijuana Law

Back in November the people of Colorado voted to legalize Marijuana in the state for recreational use of its residents.  The measure which is Amendment 64 has not really brought out any large opposition from the Obama Administration which is of no surprise to because they are all about Smoke and Mirrors.  This Amendment is in direct violation to the federal laws on the use and sales of Marijuana but the Obama Administration has not raised a finger to challenge the State or any part of this new law.  The Obama’s Office of National Drug Control Policy has stated the following "steadfastly opposes legalization of marijuana and other drugs because legalization would increase the availability and use of illicit drugs, and pose significant health and safety risks".  If this is the opinion of the Administration then why have they not gone after the State of Colorado and this new law?

When the State of Arizona enacted laws on immigration the Obama Administration took the State to court and went as far as to set up a telephone hotline and e-mail address for the public to report civil rights concerns about the laws enforcement.  The law that Arizona passed was to strengthen a law that was on the books of the United States Government. On the contrary Amendment 64 is in direct violation of several federal laws.

We spend billions of dollars preventing Drug trafficking into the United States and yet we allow a state to pass legislation which directly affects other States rights and privileges without a challenge.  This law affects more than just the State of Colorado because of the affect that it has on companies who have offices, stores or shops in other states.  If an employer refuses to hire a person in another state because they have used marijuana and it comes back on a drug test then he must refuse that person in Colorado or be faced with a law suit for discrimination.  This is just another example where the Obama Administration has failed to work for us the people of the United States.
